I came across this ad from Dove while watching Youtube. I used to just skip ads but this particular video intrigued me. And I really like it because it tackles one of the things that this blog aims to promote – real beauty.

Kimpossibly Gorgeous: Turning Beauties into Beasts: Counterfeit Cosmetics
I have a little Tumblr project and I’m calling it “I am Morena”.
I’ve been following a lot of makeup and beauty gurus lately like Michelle Phan and some local makeup enthusiasts like Shimmering Andy and Kikay Si Maria and what I’ve noticed is that most of them are fair-skinned. And then I thought, why not start a beauty/makeup blog for the morena-toned ladies?
Why morena? Well, because I am morena, too 🙂 Growing up, I never really liked my color. I think it’s also because of the Pinoy culture – that we always thought that women who are fair-skinned are more beautiful. But, thank God, He made me realize that being morena is beautiful, too.
